{"id":217,"date":"2011-08-23T15:26:53","date_gmt":"2011-08-23T19:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.positivelyparenting.com\/?p=217"},"modified":"2015-12-03T08:40:54","modified_gmt":"2015-12-03T13:40:54","slug":"back-to-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mlparentcoach.com\/new\/parenting\/back-to-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Back to School&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"large-12 columns entry-content__output non-vc-entry\">PHEW!\u00a0 Get \u2018em outta the house, right?\u00a0 It\u2019s hot out, the vacations have been had, the crafts have been crafted, and the sports have been played and played again.\u00a0 Even the pool (the POOL) is lackluster.\u00a0 The kids shrug listlessly at the TV, the movies, the X-Box, the computer, even Fruit Ninja.\u00a0 The board game pieces are lost and the markers are dry.\u00a0 Ice cream has become a bribe, and even <em>that<\/em> isn\u2019t working anymore.\u00a0 Time.\u00a0 For.\u00a0 School.<\/p>\n<p>Well, then the day comes and\u2026wait a second.\u00a0 When did these kids get so big?\u00a0 It was nursery school for years, and now they have backpacks the size of mac trucks.\u00a0 They are half-heartedly hugging you, glancing around for friends, ready to move on to the next thing, person, event.\u00a0 Huh.\u00a0 Well, wait a second.\u00a0 I am sick to death of my kids, but I don\u2019t want them to <em>want<\/em> to leave me!\u00a0 I am the one who needs to be alone, I am the one who has my busy plans, I am the one who wants to see my friends, and I am the one with the life here.<\/p>\n<p>Wrong.<\/p>\n<p>They have lives too, and they always have.\u00a0 But now those lives are really\u2026real.\u00a0 I have been so busy raising them that I have forgotten that they are people;
