I stumbled upon this blog\u00a0http:\/\/www.aninchofgray.blogspot.com\/<\/a>\u00a0and started to read. \u00a0The picture of the little boy, the writer’s son, reminded me so much my little Gigi.<\/p>\n

This writer, this Mom, lost her 12-year-old son in a tragic accident. \u00a0I don’t know the details. \u00a0A bridge. \u00a0A flood. \u00a0In their own neighborhood. \u00a0The unthinkable, the unimaginable.<\/p>\n

As the mom also mentions in the blog post, my eye is drawn to the belly of Jack (that’s his name. \u00a0Jack). \u00a0I think of all the kissing and tickling and hugging that belly saw…that my children’s bellies see.<\/p>\n

As parents, we cannot live and love like we are grieving (unless we are, than that’s what you do). \u00a0There is that saying…”live like today is your last….” \u00a0I hate that saying. What I am supposed to do? \u00a0Vodka shots? \u00a0Jump from a plane? \u00a0Sit and stare at my family, like they are museum relics? \u00a0You have <\/em>to live like tomorrow is going to happen, because it is real. \u00a0It is true.<\/p>\n

If I lived like I was going to lose my children the next day, I could not. \u00a0The fear of the pain would swallow me whole.<\/p>\n

Bills to be paid, homework to be checked. \u00a0Working out, food-buying. \u00a0Cleaning dishes, bathtime. \u00a0But oh….bathtime.<\/p>\n

The 8 year old turns away from me, “Mom, I need privacy,” <\/em>she hisses. \u00a0Yes, yes of course you do.<\/p>\n

The just-about-five-year old is, naturally, of two minds. \u00a0“Wash my hair, Mom. \u00a0Now go away!”<\/p>\n

But the 21 month old has the giant belly. \u00a0She is proud of it, pats at and throws her head back and laughs. \u00a0And I get to scrub that belly and eat toes and kiss fingers…all I want.<\/p>\n

Jack, the young man who has died, had the same belly that my Gigi has.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You can see it, right there. \u00a0Hanging over her skirt.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This blog for parents who have sweet children with big bellies. \u00a0Love them up.<\/p>\n

And to those who miss the bellies, who are suffering with tremendous loss…my prayers, thoughts, and love goes to you.<\/p>\n
